The kangaroo Salem sump with multi-functional port with NFIT connection is a medical device that healthcare providers can use to safely decompress a patient's stomach contents, administer enteral feedings, and irrigate. The kangaroo Salem sump with multi-functional port with NIT connection will either come individually or with a Salem sump. In both instances, the clinician will need to assemble the product. Insert the larger diameter post into the larger diameter hole of the suction lumen on the sump tube. The part is properly attached to the tubing when the face of the port is flush with the end of the tube. When using the kangaroos Salem sump with multifunctional port with NFIT connection with a patient, we recommend referring to the instructions for use manual or IFU for guidance and optimal use of the product. Using a quarter twist, securely push the suction line over the port. Turn the selection knob until the indicator line on the knob is aligned with the indicator of the suction port and begin suctioning. If the white transition connector is attached to your feeding set, gently twist to remove the transition connector and discard prior to feeding with an NFIT connection. Attach the end of the enteral feeding bag to the feeding port. Make a quarter turn and do not over tighten the connection. Turn the selection knob until the indicator line on the knob is aligned with the indicator of the feed port and begin feeding. Using an unfit syringe, connect to the feeding port and use a quarter turn for a secure seal. Do not over tighten the connection. To lock the fluid path mode, slide the center tab towards the ARV port until the padlock symbol appears. To unlock, slide the Center tab away from the ARV port. Irrigate the ARV port with air or saline using an irrigation tip syringe. Set with a quarter turn. Always inject 10 to 20 mL of air after each saline or water flush to reestablish the air buffer. Do not deliver any crushed or liquid medications, formulas, or other liquids other than water or saline into the ARV port. Slide the knob to the middle to clamp the tube during a procedure or transportation. To lock, slide the top down at any position to reveal the lock sign. This will lock the knob during any of the various functions of the tube. With the kangaroo Salem sump with multi-functional port with NFIT connection, clinicians can safely decompress, feed, vent, and administer medication with one product.
